Whatever be the title, Vishal Bharadwajs film will have a title song

Vishal Bharadwajs adaptation of Shakespeares Othello will finally get a name in the first week of May. There was quite a buzz over the title of the film. So we thought we will get the clarification on the nomenclature of the movies title from the horses mouth. When we got in touch with Kumar Mangat, the producer of the film, this is what he had to say regarding the title issue. We are planning a grand contest on the title of the film where in the public will get to decide the movie name. We have come up with three titles that go with the theme of the film Omkara, Issak (the western UP pronunciation of Ishq) and O Saathi Re. We have tied up with several media entities through which we will get people across the globe to short-select the final title by a public poll. In fact we will also be attaching the synopsis of the film along with contest wherein a reader can even suggest us his own title if something more interesting clicks his mind on reading the story. Interestingly there are varied opinions on the title amongst people associated with the film. While director Vishal Bharadwaj is in favor of Omkara, Ajay Devgan and Kareena Kapoor are more keen on Issak, says Mangat. Omkara is the name of Ajay Devgans character in the film. Interestingly 3 songs in the films are based on the three short-selected titles. So whatever be the title of the film, one thing is for sure. The film will surely have a title song. This is the first time in the history of Indian cinema that the title of a film will be decided by the audience. The contest goes live on April 25 and based on the public poll, the final title will be revealed out in the first week of May, says Mangat. And what does the winner get? A grand opportunity to attend the music release of the film and go up the stage along with the entire cast of the film to release the music. Kumar Mangat also confirms, The music of the film will release in the second week of June and the film will be released in the last week of July. Except for one song that is to be shot, the entire shooting schedule of the film is complete. Currently they are editing a 10-minute showreel of the film that will be showcased at the Cannes Film Festival to the international audience. The entire cast of the film is expected to be at the event.
