Swades to release on Independence Day

Now this may come in as a surprise to many a reader. While bigges like Ketan Mehta's The Rising (Aamir Khan), Subhash Ghai's Kisna (Vivek Oberoi) and Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani (Salman Khan) have been constantly making news, Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades had clearly kept itself out of the limelight for quite some time now. But here's the declaration that Gowariker's self-produced period drama after the path-breaking Lagaan is already nearing its completion. 'Swades' starring Shahrukh Khan and model-turned-actress Gayatri Joshi is being shot at jet-speed at the outskirts of Wai village in Maharashtra and is also reportedly canned many a reels. Soon post-production work will begin on the film. Perhaps Gowariker wants his work to speak about the movie. And in accordance with its patriotic theme, the film is all set to release on the Independence Day - August 15.
