Sanjay sticks to his 'Plan'

More than two months ago, this writer had pointed out that a Sanjay Dutt festival is round the corner, what with four Sanju starrers [MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S., L.O.C., PLAN, RUDRAKSH] releasing back to back. With MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. opening this week and L.O.C. confirmed for December 25, Sanjay Gupta is gearing up to release PLAN on January 9, 2004. I am well aware that a number of Sanju starrers are cutting too close, but you can't control certain things. Strangely, the films got completed around the same time. In any case, the audience always has an appetite for good cinema, Gupta tells me. Nonetheless, the KAANTE director feels that he'll benefit out of MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. It's a brilliant film, he sounds enthusiastically, And Sanju is unbelievable in it. The film will open new vistas, besides a completely new set of fans may also emerge. However, Gupta strongly feels that his film has an edge over the other two films. PLAN is aimed at the college students, the yuppie crowd, while the target audience of L.O.C. and MUNNABHAI M.B.B.S. is different. The youth brigade in PLAN should lure the college crowd to the theatres, he sounds confident.
