Salman Khan acquitted by Rajasthan High Court in poaching case

 

Salman Khan has been in the news often for the court cases that are running against him. But now we hear that the Rajasthan High Court has acquitted the actor in connection with two poaching cases that were registered against him.

 

With this verdict, the Rajasthan High Court over-turned an earlier verdict that sentenced Salman to five years in jail. For the uninitiated, Salman Khan had been accused of shooting endangered and protected antelopes in two separate incidents in 1998, while filming a movie in the desert state. Acquitting the actor in the case, the High Court stated there was no evidence to prove that the animals that were found dead were shot by Salman Khan's licensed gun.

 

Post this acquittal, while the state government still has the ability to decide whether to appeal to the Supreme Court to over-rule the High Court's decision, a third case about Khan's alleged poaching is yet to be decided in Rajasthan.
