Raj Kumar Santoshi is back at it again. Inpsired by the legendary film-maker Raj Kapoor, Santoshi has come up with Lajja, an attempt to convey social messages through the medium of cinema. The theme of the movie is that women can't be taken lightly and their role in society has gone a paradigm change in the recent years. The film is a look at the contemporary society and women's issues thorough the eyes of the protagonist Manisha Koirala. Manisha, who has led a sheltered life all throught, is escaping the ruthless clutches of her paramour Jackie Shroff. She seeks shelter in various places (shades of Jagte Raho here). But to her surprise and anger she finds that women are traumatized and manipulated everywhere. The film tracks the awakening of Manisha who takes up women's causes in each of the homes and fights for their rights. The performance of the star-cast is rumored to be extra-ordinary. The film stars Anil Kapoor, Jackie Shroff, Ajay Devgan, Rekha, Madhuri Dixit, Manisha Koirala, Mahima Chowdhary, Asrani, Tinu Anand, Razzak Khan, Gulshan Grover, Johny Lever and Danny Denzongpa. Aishwarya Rai and Sonali Bendre in special appearance. Let us see whether Lajja lives up to its promise.
