Dharam Oberoi loses case against RGV's Bhoot 2

By Bollywood Hungama News Network -

Even though Ram Gopal Varma's last release Department failed to make it big at the box office, the film managed to make noise due the apparent fall out between Sanjay Dutt, his business partner Dharam Oberoi and director RGV. However, after a few days Dutt and Varma patched up, leaving Oberoi in the lurch.

Following this, Oberoi filed a case against Varma for nonpayment of dues amounting to Rs. 50 lakh for Department. While taking the suit a step further, he sought a stay on the October 12 release of Bhoot 2, on the pretext that the film is owned by Varma, and that he owed him Rs. 50 lakh.

However, on Tuesday, when the matter came up for hearing before the Bombay High Court, the court refused to grant the stay on Bhoot 2's release. Ajay Vazirani (of M/s. Hariani & Co.) representing Varma and Alumbra Productions Pvt Ltd (producers of Bhoot 2), stated that the ruling went a long way in setting an example for many who try and stall the release of films last minute in an attempt to extort money from the filmmakers.
