'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' song lands Shanghai in trouble

Every time a big film is up for release you always have some uncalled for controversy surrounding it. This seems to be the case with this week's big release Shanghai as well.

 

One of the popular songs from Shanghai called 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' has come in for a lot of criticism from certain sections of the society due to certain controversial lyrics. In fact, Tejinder Bagga of Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena has filed a PIL in the Delhi High Court asking for an interim stay on the release of the film till the song is deleted. Tejinder is upset with the lyrics of the song and feels that it projects India in very poor light.

A month ago, Tejinder had even engaged in a war of words with Shanghai's music director Vishal Dadlani (of Vishal-Shekhar duo fame) on popular social networking site Twitter asking him to do away with such lyrics.

 

Shanghai directed by Dibakar Banerjee and starring Abhay Deol, Emraan Hashmi, Kalki and Prosenjit is slated to release this Friday (June 8). One will have to wait and watch if it does release as per schedule without any fuss.
