'Awaarapan': Bhatts' most expensive film

By Bollywood Hungama -

Mahesh and Mukesh Bhatts Vishesh Films continues to surprise you with newer stories helmed by supremely talented directors. And the success of MURDER, ZEHER, GANGSTER and WOH LAMHE is proof that the Bhatts believe in focusing on content than stars. Brimming with ideas and not the type to rest on past laurels, the Bhatts announced their most ambitious project at a grand bash on 20th November: AWAARAPAN. Before officially announcing AWAARAPAN, music company Saregama and Vishesh Films celebrated their association with pomp and show. Not only were trophies distributed to the actors/crew of the film, even the all-India distributors of the films had flown to Mumbai to partake in the celebrations and collect their trophies. The look of AWAARAPAN was later unveiled. Although the Bhatts are keeping the plotline of the film a well-guarded secret, director Mohit Suri did reveal the gist of the story to this writer. Its about an atheist turning into a believer, Mohit revealed. Emraan Hashmi will be seen sporting a new look in the film -- long hair, moustache, stubble and yes, holding a gun. Reportedly, AWAARAPAN is Bhatts most expensive film to date. Its budgeted at Rs. 18 crores, Mukesh Bhatt tells me, We never said we wouldnt make expensive films. We always maintained that we wont pay astronomical fees to stars and are stand remains the same. The subject of AWAARAPAN demands this kind of a budget and hence, were spending that amount. Were definitely not following the trend of making expensive films just for the heck of it. Also in the pipeline are projects with Anurag Basu [SUICIDE BOMBER; I am still working on the script, Basu says], SHOWBIZ [Raju Khan] and a project with Pooja Bhatt.
