Actor Aparshakti Khurana made a surprising revelation about his journey in the entertainment industry during a candid appearance on Double Date, hosted by Neha Dhupia and Angad Bedi. Joining the hosts alongside his wife Aakriti Khurana, the actor reflected on his early struggles, career aspirations, and the unexpected turn his life took after marriage.
Known today for his performances across films and digital platforms, Aparshakti revealed that breaking into the industry was far from easy. Before finding success as an actor, he explored different career paths while trying to establish himself in Mumbai.
Recalling those challenging days, Aparshakti shared, “There was a phase when I thought what can be one way to shift to Bombay for me. So there was a phase when I was a stylist in Mumbai. I used to style some hosts which were hosting Bollywood shows in a very famous TV channel. Slowly I will say goodbye to whatever I am doing now, Mera bohat mann hai (I really have this wish), after 10-12 years to learn tailoring. Kapda kaise kaatna hai kaise silna hai (how to cut the fabric, how to stitch it).”
The actor went on to speak about how he tirelessly reached out to casting directors, filmmakers, production houses, and television channels during his early years but rarely received a response. According to Aparshakti, things changed dramatically after he married Aakriti Khurana.
Sharing the anecdote, he said, “Jab main radio mein kaam kar kar raha tha, (when I was working on the radio) ya Delhi High court mein, or whatever small work I was doing before getting married I used to text or email directors or casting directors or production houses or tv channels, no one replied to me even once. The day I got married I received replies from 3 years old messages asking that they are now looking for a host and now if I can come and join them. I didn't believe in lady luck at all. But then I realised aisa bhi kuch ho sakta hai (something like this also exists).”
The revelation left the hosts amused, while also highlighting the unpredictable nature of the entertainment industry. Aparshakti's comments about “lady luck” drew attention, with the actor crediting his wife for bringing positive changes into his life.
Apart from discussing his career journey, the episode also featured several emotional moments. Aparshakti reflected on memories of his late father and his connection to Chandigarh.
