Sunny Leone has opened up about her experience at the Cannes Film Festival, offering fans a rare behind-the-scenes glimpse into what the globally celebrated red carpet event is actually like beyond the glamorous photographs and designer appearances. Speaking during a recent podcast appearance, the actor reflected on the realities of navigating Cannes and how her experience changed while attending the festival for the premiere of Kennedy.

Sunny candidly revealed that access to the iconic Cannes red carpet is far more structured and competitive than it appears online. “So, I'll tell you a secret about Cannes. If you don't have like a film or you're not there with a company that's blocked this carpet, you are literally herded with like hundreds of people all trying to get their picture clicked. But, you know, it was special that we had gotten that carpet all to ourselves for Kennedy and just really embraced every single step,” she shared.
Her comments highlighted the difference between attending Cannes independently and arriving as part of an official film premiere. Sunny attended the prestigious festival in 2023 for Kennedy, directed by Anurag Kashyap, which premiered at the event and received considerable attention from international audiences and critics alike.

The actor also surprised listeners by revealing how short the famous Cannes red carpet actually is in real life. “It is such a short carpet. It takes you maybe like, I don't know, less than 30 seconds to go from one end to the other if you walked normal. It's that short,” Sunny said.
Reflecting further on the experience, she admitted that the reality of Cannes differs from the larger-than-life image often portrayed on social media and entertainment coverage. “It looks very normal. Isn't that interesting? Yeah. It's everything that you expect it to be and then there's all these other things,” she explained.
Sunny added that there are many behind-the-scenes details audiences remain unaware of until they experience the festival firsthand. “You're like, oh, I didn't know that. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, that's how that works,” she said.
Kennedy, which marked Sunny Leone’s major collaboration with Anurag Kashyap, starred Rahul Bhat in the lead role and premiered at the Midnight Screenings section at Cannes. The film generated significant buzz during its festival run and became one of the talking points from India’s presence at the international event.
