There’s no doubt that there’s no one in the industry who is as bindaas and entertaining as Jackie Shroff. And he proved it yet again with his antics and one-liners at the trailer launch of his film The Great Grand Superhero, which was held on May 12 at a multiplex in Mumbai. He was also joined by Sharat Saxena, Saharsh Kumar Shukla, Durgesh Kumar, director Manish Saini, producer Umesh Kumar Bansal of Zee Studios and the various child actors in the movie.
Jackie Shroff looked at the child actors of the film and said, “Yeh bacche log sab ke baap hai. When I see these kids, I am reminded of my kid, Tiger, when he was of this age. He still holds that innocence and I hope these kids do the same. Dil se masoom hi rehna bhai log.”
He praised the director, “Saini saab is a three-time National Award winner. And now he has cast someone like me. Hence, I am very tense (laughs).”
Jackie Shroff then once again spoke about the kids in the movie, “I had a blast shooting with these kids. Sabke ghar se khana mila! Mera pet bahar aa gaya tha. There was no need for me to do any prosthetics to show a paunch (laughs). Thank you for reminding me of my childhood and that of my son.”
In a unique initiative, kids from Ahmedabad and Delhi were connected via video link and they also got a chance to ask a question. Jackie Shroff told one of the kids, “Sapna bhi dekh aur ped bhi lagaya kar. Garmi bahut badh rahi hai. The climate has become harsher. So, tell your teacher to plant a tree in the name of your mother. Even our Prime Minister has said it. That’s all I know – to plant trees.”
He continued, “Respect your parents and be true to your friends. Aur daba ke kha par chaba ke kha! Eat until your stomach is full, but make sure you bite your food properly. And don’t laugh while eating. Khana atak gaya toh game baj jaata hai! So, don’t talk or play while eating. You can play later.”
Jackie then looked at the children present in the theatre and told them, “To all the kids here as well, do not watch TV while eating. Abhi has rahe ho lekin baad mein rona padega!”
However, the one moment that rocked the show was when two kids came on stage to gift a plant to Jackie Shroff. Jackie touched their feet and it took everyone by surprise.
The Great Grand Superhero releases in cinemas on May 29.
