Alia Bhatt has opened up about the books and shows currently keeping her engaged, while also sharing how motherhood has influenced the pace of her professional life. In a recent chat with Femina, the actor spoke candidly about balancing work, parenting, and personal well-being.

When asked what she is currently reading and watching, Alia said she has been spending time with a parenting book that has deeply resonated with her. She shared, “Yeah, I'm reading that book [The Parent's Tao Te Ching: Ancient Advice for Modern Parents] that I spoke of earlier. I'm watching this show called Love Story, the FX show, it's a really good show.”
The actor had earlier elaborated on why the book has become meaningful to her at this stage of life. According to Alia, the book offers a thoughtful perspective on how parents should not lose themselves while raising children. She described it as a reinterpretation of the ancient Chinese text Tao Te Ching, saying it contains “beautiful verses” about parents taking care of themselves.
Alia explained that one of the key messages she took from the book is that children often learn by observing their parents. She said if parents are emotionally healthy and balanced, children benefit from that environment as well. The actor added that the book encourages parents not to neglect their inner peace and personal growth.
During the same interaction, Alia also reflected on why she now prefers doing fewer films each year. She revealed that there was a phase when she was juggling multiple projects annually, but it eventually became exhausting. As a result, she consciously decided to slow down and focus on quality over quantity.
The actor also spoke about wanting to be a hands-on mother to her daughter Raha while continuing to pursue a career she is passionate about. Alia said she wants her daughter to see a mother who loves storytelling and cinema, but also someone who can maintain balance without burning out.
On the work front, Alia Bhatt has a packed slate ahead. She will be seen in Love & War directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, alongside Ranbir Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal. She is also set to headline Alpha, one of the most anticipated upcoming projects from Yash Raj Films.
