Prime Video has officially renewed Young Sherlock for a second season, following the strong global response to its debut. The series, starring Hero Fiennes Tiffin as a young Sherlock Holmes, is directed by Guy Ritchie and presents an action-driven origin story of the iconic detective.

Announcing the renewal, Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios, said the show has resonated widely with audiences. “Young Sherlock has that rare magic, millions of fans around the world aren’t just watching a detective story, they’re falling in love with the origin of an icon,” he said. He added that the creators have made Sherlock’s early years feel “fresh, dangerous, and utterly addictive,” while also introducing a compelling take on James Moriarty.
According to the platform, the series reached 45 million viewers within its first 28 days and ranked No. 1 in over 95 countries. A majority of its audience, around 63%, came from international markets, with strong viewership reported in the U.K., India, and Germany. The show’s trailer also recorded 223 million views in its first seven days, marking a record for the platform.
Season One follows a young, defiant Sherlock Holmes as he encounters James Moriarty and becomes entangled in a murder investigation that expands into a global conspiracy. Set in Victorian England and across international locations, the story traces the early experiences that shape the detective’s future.
The series also features Dónal Finn, Zine Tseng, Joseph Fiennes, Natascha McElhone, Max Irons and Colin Firth. Guy Ritchie will return to direct the first episode of Season Two, with Matthew Parkhill continuing as creator and showrunner.
