Actor Manu Menon is gearing up for his upcoming release Bhooth Bangla, and the film already holds special significance for him. Sharing screen space with Akshay Kumar for the first time, Manu recently reflected on a full-circle moment that dates back over two decades.

Recalling an unexpected connection, Manu shared, “I actually met Akshay Kumar 23 years ago in New York and had a picture with him. If I was told that day that we would be working together one day, I wouldn’t have ever believed it.”
The actor also spoke about his experience on set, highlighting Akshay Kumar’s supportive nature. He revealed an incident from the early days of shooting that left a lasting impression on him. “My biggest takeaway from working with him was how supportive and caring he is towards every person on set. This was on full display on the second day of shooting together. I shot a scene, got hurt, and was knocked to the ground. He was on the opposite side of the room and was the first person to get to me and check if I was okay. The rest of the crew also came to check, but to have him run over and be the first there speaks volumes about his character. He made me feel comfortable right from the beginning—these are memories that will stay with me.”
Directed by Priyadarshan, Bhooth Bangla marks another collaboration between the filmmaker and Akshay Kumar, a duo known for delivering popular entertainers. Speaking about what drew him to the project, Manu said, “In one word, what drew me to Bhooth Bangla immediately was ‘Priyadarshan’. To work with a legend like Priyadarshan sir is a blessing for any actor, so it was an easy yes for me when he first told me there was a role he felt I would be right for. After telling me the story and the fact that I would be working with Akshay Kumar, I was counting the days until I could be on set.”
Offering a glimpse into his role, Manu added, “I think the best way to describe my character would be loyal, mysterious, and a man who lets his actions speak louder than his words. You’ll have to watch the movie to find out more.”
He also addressed the challenges of working in a horror-comedy. “I believe the writers and directors have the most difficult job in a genre like horror-comedy. Balancing the two without going too far in one direction is the tricky part. For me, the challenge was making sure I stayed true to my character and did justice to the story they are telling.”
Also starring Paresh Rawal, Tabu, Rajpal Yadav, and Wamiqa Gabbi, Bhooth Bangla is slated to hit theatres on April 17, 2026.
