Known for his humanitarian efforts, Sonu Sood marked World Health Day by announcing a new healthcare initiative titled ‘Ab Rukna Nahi’, a knee replacement surgery program aimed at helping those who cannot afford critical treatment.
The announcement was made during his address at the India 2030 Leadership Conclave, where the actor spoke about the importance of prioritizing health beyond symbolic observances. Emphasizing consistency over occasion-based awareness, Sonu Sood shared, “We celebrate this World Health Day every single day, all 365 days a year. It's not that you can decide that today is World Health Day, so we have to eat right or we have to preach right. So I think it's very important to follow a disciplined routine all your life that will help you do whatever you want to do.”
Building on this philosophy, the actor introduced the ‘Ab Rukna Nahi’ initiative, which focuses on providing knee replacement surgeries to elderly individuals who often delay or avoid treatment due to financial constraints or lack of access. Highlighting the need for such a program, he added, “On World Health Day, we are also launching this knee replacement surgery. It's a huge program that we are coming up with. It's called Ab Rukna Nahi. You know, because a lot of people, old parents, they avoid getting those surgeries done. They are not able to mobilize themselves.”
Sonu Sood further shared an emotional perspective that underscores the intent behind the initiative, “Your parents who taught you how to walk, when they can't walk, it becomes our responsibility to teach them how to walk. So I think that's one of the very, very special programs which is very close to my heart.”
Over the years, the actor has built a reputation for stepping in during times of crisis and extending support to those in need, from facilitating travel for migrant workers to enabling access to education and medical care. With ‘Ab Rukna Nahi’, he continues that legacy by addressing a crucial healthcare gap affecting senior citizens.
