Actor Ashwin Dhar, who played Arshad Pappu in the Dhurandhar duology, has responded to viral social media comparisons linking one of his looks in the film to Shah Rukh Khan’s appearance at the Met Gala. Speaking during a conversation with Filmygyan, the actor described the comparisons as overwhelming and said he considers them a major compliment.
Following the film’s release, several netizens began pointing out similarities between Dhar’s styling in one sequence and Shah Rukh Khan’s widely discussed Met Gala debut look, leading to memes and fan reactions across platforms.

Reacting to the comparisons, Ashwin Dhar shared that being linked to Shah Rukh Khan, even in terms of styling or costume references, felt special. “For me it is something like such an overwhelming experience. When you are compared with Shah Rukh Khan, whether it is looks or costume, but you are shown alongside Shah Rukh Khan, that itself means a lot.”
He further spoke about his admiration for the superstar and highlighted the scale of Shah Rukh Khan’s legacy in the industry. “Shah Rukh Khan is more than an actor. Personally he is a very good human being. To become such a big actor is not an ordinary thing. When you are connected with such a superstar from our industry in a film, it is a big compliment.”

Ashwin Dhar also addressed the memes circulating online, including one that suggested Shah Rukh Khan could have been cast as Arshad Pappu. “There have been so many memes. Different kinds of memes were made. I saw one meme saying Shah Rukh Khan should be cast as Arshad Pappu. That means it is a big compliment and I am really enjoying this. I am having a lot of fun with it.”
When asked whether Shah Rukh Khan could have played the role himself, Dhar responded positively and acknowledged the senior actor’s experience. “Of course. One hundred percent. Why not. He is a seasoned actor. He would definitely have done something different and something special with the role.”
The comparisons come at a time when Dhurandhar continues to generate strong discussion online, with performances, character looks and styling choices from the film becoming part of ongoing fan conversations across social media platforms
