Actress Mrunal Thakur is gearing up for the release of her upcoming film Dacoit, and at the trailer launch event, she offered a candid perspective on working across languages and genres. Co-starring Adivi Sesh, the film marks another addition to her growing filmography that spans both Hindi and Telugu cinema.

Having already impressed audiences with performances in films like Love Sonia and Sita Ramam, Mrunal reflected on how her approach to acting has evolved with experience. Addressing the often-discussed topic of language barriers in Indian cinema, the actress asserted that the genre of a film plays a far more significant role in shaping a performance.

“Language doesn't matter. What matters is the genre of the movie. And I have realized that the hold and the pregnant pauses between each dialogue are so important,” Mrunal stated and also highlighted the differences that came with Love Sonia and Sita Ramam, both films hailing from contrasting genres.

Elaborating further, she spoke about the specific demands of an action-driven narrative like Dacoit, where body language and physicality become key tools for storytelling. “So, there are certain scenes where there is a pause. But, the genre plays a very, very important role in this,” she said. “This is the first time, in fact, I had to take help from Adivi Sesh. Because, there are tricks on how to stand in a certain position. If you have to look vulnerable, you suddenly slouch. These details play a very important role,” she added.

Mrunal also pointed out how action films require a distinct performance style compared to more dialogue-heavy or emotional dramas. “When it comes to action, it is more of a stance. There is more need for a pause in a scene. So, it just varies accordingly,” she simply mentioned, emphasising that it's the genre that plays an even bigger role.

Directed by Shaneil Deo, Dacoit also features an ensemble cast including Anurag Kashyap and Prakash Raj. The film has been shot simultaneously in Telugu and Hindi, reflecting the growing trend of bilingual filmmaking aimed at reaching wider audiences.

With its blend of action and drama, Dacoit is expected to showcase a different side of Mrunal Thakur, as she navigates a genre that demands both emotional restraint and physical precision. The film is slated for a worldwide release on April 10, adding to the lineup of much-anticipated releases this month.
