Kubbra Sait had a great start to the year, thanks to the success of her recently released web series, Sankalp. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama, she spoke about the show and then also opened up about her upcoming release – Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai – co-starring Varun Dhawan, Mrunal Thakur and Pooja Hegde.

EXCLUSIVE: Kubbra Sait talks about Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai: “Varun Dhawan was the HARDEST working classmate in our acting school…PROUD of him”; opens up on Ready’s 15th anniversary: “Imagine my first film collected Rs. 125 cr”

Kubbra Sait was all smiles as she said, “I did this project for love. I have been a Bollywood buff my entire life and my dream of being on a film set came from watching David Dhawan films. And as expected, the mood on the set was fun and frolic and that’s one of the reasons why I did this film. I am so happy that I could work with the legend himself. It was incredible. I am very happy and so proud that I made this choice.”

Kubbra reunited with her Son Of Sardaar 2 (2025) co-star Mrunal Thakur in this film. Her smile widened as she stated, “Yes! It was like carrying forward the Son Of Sardaar 2 set fun in a whole different environment. Also, Varun has been my acting school classmate. I learned how to act for a short bit at Barry John’s. That’s how I have known Varun since then and he’s the hardest working classmate that I have ever worked with. I don’t think I did half the hard work that he did in this class. I was so happy that I could share screen space with him. I am very proud of everything that he’s doing. He’s very proud of me too and that’s amazing!”

Kubbra Sait has been a part of several light hearted films in the past besides Son Of Sardaar 2. She had a crucial part in Jawaani Jaaneman (2020) and she had an interesting appearance in Ready (2011). When it was remarked that the Salman Khan-starrer would complete 15 years on June 3 this year, Kubbra was in disbelief. She exclaimed, “My god. Is it completing 15 years? Can you imagine? Oh my god, thank you for reminding me.”

She continued, “Imagine I came to Mumbai with no idea what I was going to do. And then my first film becomes a Rs. 100 crore grosser. At that time, for a film to earn Rs. 125 crores was a very big deal. So, I was a part of a super-hit film. I have been a part of some very epic projects if you come to think of it. I am so grateful for that.”

Many didn’t realize then that Kubbra Sait featured in Ready. But after the release of her landmark show, Sacred Games, and other titles, people were pleasantly surprised to spot her in the Anees Bazmee-starrer.

Kubbra confessed that even today, she bumps into people who inform her how they were amazed to see her in Ready, “People say ‘Aap woh maid thi na Ready mein? Aap ne Hayabusa chalaya na? Humein woh scene bahut accha laga’! It's insane!”
