Gabriella Demetriades has reacted strongly to writer Shobhaa De’s criticism of Arjun Rampal’s recent remarks about chanting “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” while speaking about his experience working on Dhurandhar and Dhurandhar The Revenge. The model and entrepreneur called the column “outrageous” in the comments section, drawing attention online.
The response came after Shobhaa De published a column questioning Rampal’s statement during an appearance at the HELLO! Hall of Fame Awards. While recalling his memories of the 26/11 terror attacks, the actor had spoken about how witnessing the events personally left a lasting impact on him. He shared that filming the 26/11 sequence in Dhurandhar felt like a form of emotional closure and concluded his remarks by saying, “All I want to say is, Bharat Mata Ki Jai.”
Amid the discussion, Gabriella Demetriades responded directly in the comments section of the article, writing, “This is outrageous.” Her brief reaction was widely shared by fans and followers, adding another layer to the conversation surrounding the actor’s statement.
Rampal had earlier described the personal nature of his memories from the night of the 26/11 attacks. He recalled that he witnessed the aftermath while returning home on his birthday and said the experience had affected him deeply. According to him, hearing director Aditya Dhar narrate the sequence for Dhurandhar made him feel he could channel those emotions through his performance.
In Dhurandhar, Arjun Rampal’s character is shown celebrating and partying while remaining in live contact with the terrorists inside the hotel. In the sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza confronts and eventually kills Iqbal following a violent face-off. The film also features Rakesh Bedi, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun and R Madhavan in key roles.
