Karan Johar to focus on in-house talent after Janhvi Kapoor’s exit from his talent management agency

According to a report by The Hindustan Times, Janhvi’s move from Dharma Cornerstone Artist Agency (DCAA) to another talent firm has once again highlighted the growing trend of actors frequently switching management teams. The shift has sparked conversations within the industry about loyalty and long-term associations between artists and agencies.

Addressing the situation, Johar acknowledged the fluid nature of the business and said, “I will prioritise my in-house talent.” His statement signals a strategic shift in approach as he looks to strengthen and invest in artists already associated with his banner. Sharing his perspective on why actors often change agencies, Johar pointed to the pressures of the industry today. He noted, “This generation is very anxiety-ridden,” explaining that many actors are constantly seeking validation and better opportunities in a highly competitive environment. He further added that frequent switching has become a norm rather than an exception in the industry.

Johar also reflected on the emotional and professional complexities involved in managing talent, suggesting that relationships between actors and agencies are increasingly transactional. Despite this, he maintained that there is no bitterness regarding such exits and that he continues to wish artists well in their journeys.

The conversation comes at a time when several actors have shifted representation, underlining how rapidly the talent management landscape is evolving in Bollywood. Johar’s comments offer insight into how production houses and agencies are adapting to these changes while redefining their priorities.

While DCAA remains a significant player, Johar’s renewed focus on in-house talent indicates a move towards building more stable and long-term collaborations within his own ecosystem.
