Alia Bhatt and producer Shaheen Bhatt promoted their film, Don't Be Shy, at Prime Video’s It Starts Here event and also released the first look teaser poster of their coming-of-age film. Karan Johar was the host and he raised laughs as he interacted with the team, especially while discussing the cast of the film.
Karan Johar asked Alia, Shaheen and director Sreeti Mukerji, “We have the producers and director here. So, who is in the film?” Shaheen replied, “Actors?”
KJo, taken aback by the reply, added, “That’s lovely, though with AI, you never know! It's very reassuring to hear that. What I meant was – who are the actors?” Alia Bhatt answered, “These actors are making their debut. We also made our debut once upon a time.” Sreeti Mukerji added, “They are performers who are perfect for a coming-of-age romantic film like this one.”
Karan Johar then asked, “Do these actors and performers have names?” Alia raised laughs as she quipped “Yes, they have names. Nice names, that too!”
KJo kept his calm and finally asked “What are these names?” Alia again added to the fun as, this time, she changed the topic and began talking to Nikhil Madhok, Head of Indian Originals at Prime Video. She told him, “I have to say this, Nikhil, that it's been an honour partnering with Prime Video. You have a fantastic team and we can’t wait for Don't Be Shy to be on Prime Video for the world.”
As KJo’s frustration became clear, Alia Bhatt explained why she isn’t answering the former’s question, “Because there’s a way to launch actors.” Karan remarked, “Clearly, I wouldn’t know that, would I? I have never done something like that!”
Alia replied, “Well, what can I say? We have learned from the best. And the best has always taught us that there’s a time for everything.”
This is when Karan Johar asked, “I have a very important question. It's crucial and critical and not a part of the script. Are they outsiders?”
Alia Bhatt laughed and replied, “Yes.” At this point, Karan Johar tightly hugged Alia and joked, “I am so proud of you!”
