Ever since the teaser of Main Vaapas Aaunga dropped, anticipation around Imtiaz Ali’s next has been steadily growing. Known for his deeply emotional narratives and complex female characters, Imtiaz’s films have long resonated with audiences for their honesty and vulnerability. Now, stepping into that cinematic world is Sharvari, who describes the experience as both transformative and deeply personal.

Reflecting on what it means to be an Imtiaz Ali heroine, Sharvari shared, “I think being an Imtiaz Ali heroine means stepping into a space where the lines between the character and your own heart begin to blur in the most beautiful way.” Calling the opportunity a dream come true, she added that being chosen as the leading lady in Main Vaapas Aaunga feels like a strong validation of her journey as an actor.

Sharvari also acknowledged the legacy of iconic female characters shaped by Imtiaz Ali, referencing performances by Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anushka Sharma. “His women have never been just parts of a story — they are the story,” she said, highlighting how these characters go beyond conventional storytelling.

She elaborated on some of the filmmaker’s most memorable creations, including Geet from Jab We Met, Tara from Tamasha, and Veera from Highway. Speaking about them, Sharvari noted how each character embodies emotional depth, resilience, and authenticity. “I have been inspired by all of them and it’s incredible to be shaped and mentored by Imtiaz Ali because I think I have become a better actor and a human,” she said.

Describing the filmmaker’s process, Sharvari emphasised how his storytelling demands vulnerability. “It’s not about fitting into a mold but about letting go of one,” she explained, adding that his films encourage actors to embrace silences, contradictions, and raw emotions rather than perform perfection.

She concluded by calling the experience of working with Imtiaz Ali “humbling” and “intimate,” noting that it has reshaped how she approaches her craft. For Sharvari, being part of his cinematic legacy is not just a career milestone but a deeply personal journey that will influence her choices going forward.

Main Vaapas Aaunga is slated to release in theatres on June 12, 2026, and is already being closely watched as one of the most anticipated films of the year.
