The upcoming edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival by BookMyShow has unveiled its opening and closing films for this year’s event, which will take place in Mumbai from March 13 to 15.

The festival will open on Friday, March 13, with The Testament of Ann Lee, directed by Mona Fastvold and starring Amanda Seyfried. The historical drama explores the life of Ann Lee, the founder of the Shaker religious movement, charting her journey from persecution in England to becoming a spiritual leader in the United States.
The film previously premiered in competition at the Venice International Film Festival, where it received a widely reported standing ovation and earned a nomination for the Golden Lion.
The closing film of the festival has been announced as the French political thriller 13 Days, 13 Nights, directed by Martin Bourboulon. Based on the real-life evacuation of the French Embassy in Kabul during the Taliban takeover of Afghanistan in 2021, the film follows diplomats, security personnel and civilians attempting to escape the city amid the escalating crisis. Starring Roschdy Zem, the film had its world premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.
Meanwhile, the Centrepiece Spotlight selection of the festival will be Bayaan, directed by Bikas Ranjan Mishra and starring Huma Qureshi, Chandrachur Singh and Sachin Khedekar among others. The film, which has already been selected at major international festivals including TIFF and Busan, will have a special red carpet screening with the cast and crew in attendance.
Commenting on the announcement, Ashish Saksena, Festival Director and COO – Cinemas at BookMyShow, said, “We are pleased to open the third edition of the Red Lorry Film Festival with The Testament of Ann Lee and close with 13 Days, 13 Nights. Both these films represent the kind of strong international storytelling that the festival aims to bring to audiences in Mumbai. We are also extremely proud to present Bayaan as our Centrepiece Spotlight selection, recognising a powerful Indian film that has taken our storytelling to global festival platforms.”
Over the course of three days, the festival will showcase more than 120 films from around the world, including festival favourites and international titles from regions such as Korea, France and the United States. The programme will also include curated sections like “Legacy Rewind,” which celebrates classic cinema, alongside a special focus on Marathi films.
One of the highlights this year will be “Femme Lens,” a section led by filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari, spotlighting films by women directors from across the world and celebrating female perspectives in storytelling.
The festival will also host the French IP Market, designed to connect French intellectual properties with producers and studios from India and Southeast Asia for potential screen adaptations. In addition, there will be a showcase of contemporary French cinema and curated international titles.
Another major highlight will be a retrospective dedicated to filmmaker Pradip Krishen, featuring restored screenings of his acclaimed films In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones, Electric Moon and Massey Sahib, bringing these restored Indian classics back to the big screen.
