Anil Kapoor and his incredible 40-year journey in cinema were celebrated in a grand fashion at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Subedaar, held at a restobar by the beach in Mumbai. It was also graced by actors Radhikka Madan, Kushboo Sundar, Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Aditya Rawal and Faisal Malik along with Nikhil Madhok, director and head of originals at Prime Video India, producer Vikram Malhotra and director Suresh Triveni. Anil was asked if he had a ‘khunnas’ with Suresh, as the latter declined to work with the former’s daughter, Sonam K Ahuja.
Anil Kapoor said, “Our profession is such that khunnas kaam mein nikalni chahiye. Logon ke saath khunnas nikaalne mein kya faayda? If someone has hurt you, the best thing to do is work. You’ll forget everything. I don’t believe in khunnas. Just forgive and forget.”
He also said, “My kids are very idealistic, independent and worse than me! Koi mera fan nahin hai ghar pe; ratti bhar bhi nahin. Today, I was about to leave home to come to this event. I dropped into my bedroom to say goodbye to my wife. She asked me, ‘Where are you going?’ (mimicks her). She has no idea what’s happening in my life. Uska koi lena dena nahin hai mere profession se. I told her, ‘Today is the trailer launch’. She asked, ‘Where? Which film?’! That’s the kind of family I belong to. No one in my house is like ‘Yaar, Anil has done so many films’.”
Anil shocked the mediapersons as he revealed, “Even today, I ask for pocket money. I tell my family, ‘Shooting pe ja raha hoon. Rs. 10,000-15,000 de do’! I am the same and I want to remain that way.”
He also said, “I also have a wonderful relationship with all my filmmakers. Aisa koi filmmaker nahin hai jiske saath maine kaam kiya hai aur woh mera dost nahin hai. Be it Subhash Ghai, N Chandra, Vidhu Vinod Chopra etc. They tell me, ‘Kya chal rela hai? Chal na picture karte hai’! I called Indra Kumar and told him, ‘Kya Indu, tune Dhamaal 4 mein mujhe liya nahin. Chalo, koi baat nahin. Ajay (Devgn) ne mana kiya kya?’!”
Subedaar releases on Amazon Prime Video on March 5.
