French President Emmanuel Macron’s recent India visit included several diplomatic engagements, but a lighter pop-culture moment from his interaction with media platform Brut India quickly gained attention online. During a rapid-fire segment, Macron was asked to name his favourite Bollywood actor and replied, “I mean, yesterday I mentioned Jai Ho, so I would say Anil Kapoor.”
The exchange took place during events held near the Gateway of India, where the French President met figures from India’s cultural and creative industries. Actor Anil Kapoor later shared a photograph from the meeting, writing, “Spent an inspiring afternoon with President Emmanuel Macron and his gracious better half, Brigitte, exchanging thoughts on cinema, culture, and the powerful bridge between India and France.”
Macron’s remark soon circulated on social media, highlighting the global familiarity of Indian cinema and its artists. Kapoor, who has worked across Hindi films and international projects, continues to remain professionally active.
He will next be seen in Subedaar, directed by Suresh Triveni, set to release on Amazon Prime Video on March 5, and is also part of Family Business, an upcoming project from Netflix.
