Sun Pictures’ upcoming action entertainer Coolie is quickly becoming one of the most talked-about Indian films of 2025. Helmed by acclaimed director Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film features an ensemble cast headlined by Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, and Nagarjuna, and is scheduled for its official trailer release on August 2, 2025.
Touted as a high-octane action drama, Coolie has a reported budget of Rs. 400 crores and features a formidable supporting lineup including Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, and Shruti Haasan. Known for his gritty style and mass appeal, Kanagaraj is expected to blend stylized action with strong character arcs in his signature storytelling style.
The promotional build-up has already gained momentum with the release of three tracks from the film — ‘Monica’, ‘Powerhouse’, and ‘Disco’ and ‘Chikitu’ — all of which have seen strong streaming numbers and social media traction. Adding to the anticipation, a new ensemble poster was recently unveiled featuring Rajinikanth, Aamir Khan, and Nagarjuna in powerful, striking looks.
According to sources, the trailer will offer a deeper look into the film’s tone — with a mix of stylized action, Rajinikanth’s signature screen presence, Aamir Khan in an unconventional role, and Nagarjuna playing a darker character. The score, composed by Anirudh Ravichander, is expected to play a key role in shaping the film’s cinematic impact.
Advance bookings, particularly in overseas markets, are already showing strong interest, driven in large part by Rajinikanth’s global fanbase. Industry insiders suggest that Coolie could be a landmark film in terms of cross-regional appeal, possibly setting new benchmarks for Tamil cinema on the international stage.
Produced by Sun Pictures, which is also backing Jailer 2 and AA 22 X A6, this project is shaping up to be a significant addition to Indian action cinema. All eyes are now on August 2, when the trailer will reveal whether Coolie lives up to its mounting expectations.
