The Rs 200 crore Club has a new member: Rakesh Roshan's KRRISH-3 is the third Hindi film to achieve the feat. A section of the industry's doubts vis-Ã -vis releasing the film in the pre-Diwali [dull] period have been put to rest, as KRRISH-3 continues to win hearts and rake in the moolah. Post 3 IDIOTS and CHENNAI EXPRESS, KRRISH-3 is the third film to attain the feat [Rs 200 cr Club], besides setting a new record of the highest single day figures on Monday [Rs 35.91 cr].
When one compares KRRISH-3 with its predecessors, Rakesh Roshan undertook a big risk by not including Jadoo, one of the key characters, to woo the kids this time. But despite the omission, the film has been widely accepted by kids and adults alike, proving yet again that entertainment ought to be cleverly crafted for the spectators in these fast-changing times, since they have access to the best of world cinema today when compared to a decade ago. It won't be erroneous to state that apart from 'God, Allah aur Bhagwan', Rakesh Roshan must be thanking the kids who have thronged the cinemas in hordes [with their parents, making it a family affair] to make his new venture a colossal hit.
With KRRISH-3 dominating the market space, the new Hindi release, SATYA-2, faced an uphill task to stay afloat. To put it bluntly, its business has been disastrous. Even the brand [SATYA] could not help SATYA-2 attract a sizable chunk of spectators in its opening shows, posing no roadblock for the dream run of KRRISH-3.
Meanwhile, the Hollywood biggie THOR: THE DARK WORLD did make a slight dent in the overall business of KRRISH-3, at least in select plexes of urban centres. But with the desi superhero [KRRISH-3] winning hearts and dominating the BO, the videshi superhero [THOR] was, obviously, relegated to the backseat. KRRISH-3 is expected to enjoy the audience attention till Friday, when RAM-LEELA takes over.
