South Indian International Awards 2022 was a star studded evening with the evening dominated by Kannada stars. Needless to say, Pushpa: The Rise dominated the awards night by winning the most prestigious Best Director and Best Actor award which was presented to Arya Sukku and Allu Arjun respectively. As for the Best Actress award, while there were rumours that ‘Srivalli’ Rashmika Mandanna will be receiving it, it was later given to Pooja Hegde for the Akhil Akkineni starrer Most Eligible Bachelor. Kamal Haasan won the Lifetime Achievement Award post the massive success of Vikram.
Ranveer Singh was presented with the Most Loved Hindi Actor in South India award. The actor made a fleeting appearance on the red carpet and while receiving the award he thanked the SIIMA organizers for presenting it saying, “I’m overwhelmed with gratitude to be able to do this, just to be an artist. I get to do what I love to do for a living. It's because of your love and acceptance, so thank you all. First of all and most of all you know what I love about our country the most is the diversity that we have in our culture. We are the most diverse country in the world. Every state has such richness and vibrancy in its culture and we as a people must and must celebrate that.”
On the other hand, Yash from KGF too attended the evening making it star studded. The actor came to support the event which was hosted by popular actor Rana Daggubati. The actor was quite pumped for hosting the event and showcased his enthusiasm on the red carpet. Coming to the Kannada industry, the best Actor was given to the late Puneeth Rajkumar for Yuvarathnaa and Best Actress was given to Ashika Ranganath for Madhagaja.
