The suspense surrounding the fifth leading lady in Yash’s much-awaited film Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups has finally been put to rest. It has now been confirmed that acclaimed Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth has been quietly part of the film’s ensemble from the very beginning, with the makers deliberately keeping her casting under wraps to surprise audiences.

According to industry sources, Rukmini has already shot several key sequences with Yash during the Mumbai schedule of the film, with only a few days of filming left for her. “The film was always mounted with an ensemble of strong female characters, and Rukmini’s role is no different. She brings a strong and well-defined presence to the story. The team wanted to preserve the surprise for as long as possible, which is why her name was kept confidential until now,” the source revealed.

With her addition, Rukmini now joins an impressive line-up of powerhouse female actors, since reports suggest that Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, and Huma Qureshi will all be a part of the film - each of them expected to bring unique depth and strength to Geetu Mohandas’ ambitious narrative, which blends the grit of a gangster drama with the surreal touch of a dark fairytale.

Currently being shot in Mumbai, Toxic is slated for a worldwide release on March 19, 2026. It also marks a milestone in Indian cinema as the first large-scale bilingual to be shot simultaneously in Kannada and English, with dubbed versions planned in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam—a move designed to give the film a truly global reach.

For Rukmini, who has been on a career upswing following her stellar performance in Sapta Sagaradaache Ello, this project adds another feather to her cap. The actress already has an impressive slate ahead with Sivakarthikeyan starrer Dil Madharaasi, Rishab Shetty starrer Kantara Chapter 1, and NTRNeel.

Produced jointly by Venkat K. Narayana of KVN Productions and Yash under Monster Mind Creations, Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-ups promises to be a game-changing spectacle in Indian cinema.
