In an insightful conversation with The Hindu, AR Rahman candidly expressed his perspective on Haasan's artistic journey. Reflecting on Haasan's prolific career, Rahman said, “I feel like he got trapped in this industry over the years. It’s a good thing for us; but for him... I don’t know. 20 years ago, when he had the money, he should have just gone to Hollywood and made a film there. As an experiment perhaps, without worrying about success or failure. He can still do it actually. That’s what I told him now; to make an English film just for the heck of it and not be judgemental about it.”

In an intriguing twist, Rahman and Haasan recently shared a cinematic experience by watching Oppenheimer together at a Chinese Theatre. This cinematic sojourn culminated in a relaxed lunch, where Rahman was captivated by Haasan's profound insights into the world of filmmaking. Rahman remarked, “He (Kamal Haasan) still watches so many movies, remembers scenes and dialogues from them, and keeps pointing out trivia to me. Unlike him, I don’t have the patience anymore to finish every film!”

AR Rahman, a distinguished musician and double Oscar winner, first collaborated with Kamal Haasan in 1996 for the film Indian. Astonishingly, two decades later, their creative paths intertwine once again, as they unite for an eagerly awaited project under the visionary direction of Mani Ratnam. Fans of these icons are brimming with anticipation for the mesmerizing symphony that their collaboration promises.
