Prithviraj, who recently found himself in the middle of a censorship row due to a scene referencing the 2002 Gujarat riots in L2: Empuraan, has now been questioned by the Income Tax Department regarding his earnings from three films released in 2022. Alongside Prithviraj, the film’s co-producer Gokulam Gopalan is also being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate. The financial probe has now widened, with prominent Malayalam film producer Anthony Perumbavoor also reportedly under the scanner. Reports state that the IT department has sought a detailed explanation from Anthony, including queries about a payment of Rs. 2.5 crores made to actor Mohanlal in 2022.

In the midst of the growing controversy, Prithviraj’s mother Mallika Sukumaran broke her silence and stood firmly by her son’s side. Speaking to Mathrubhumi News, she said, “My son has done nothing wrong. We are not afraid of any investigation.” Mallika also expressed heartfelt thanks to those who have reached out to the family with support. She singled out Malayalam superstar Mammootty for his gesture during a difficult time, despite his ongoing health issues. “He is currently resting in Madras but still took the time to write, ‘It's okay, Chechi. Let it all pass.’ That message brought tears to my eyes,” she said.

While the investigation continues, Mallika’s comments have struck a chord with many in the industry and fans who have watched the situation unfold. Prithviraj has yet to issue a formal statement on either the financial probe.

The ongoing investigations signal that the industry is under increasing scrutiny, with more names likely to come under the radar. For now, the spotlight remains firmly on Prithviraj and his team as they navigate legal and creative challenges alike.
