Director Mari Selvaraj, who is currently promoting his upcoming Tamil sports drama Bison Kaalamaadan, has officially confirmed that his long-pending collaboration with Dhanush is finally back on track. The filmmaker shared the much-awaited update during a recent interaction, revealing that work on the project has already begun.
The duo last worked together on the critically acclaimed Karnan (2021), which was a major success both commercially and in terms of storytelling impact. Since then, fans have eagerly awaited news of another collaboration between the director-actor pair. Now, Mari Selvaraj has put the speculation to rest with a heartfelt statement about what this film means to him.
“Next, I will be working with Dhanush sir. We signed this film when I was working with Dhanush sir on Karnan. The film that we signed to do then was getting delayed for various reasons. It is a big project. In my life, I wanted to tell a simple story in a big way. This film is that project. I think this film will be a very important one. Work on this film has started and is going on. I am certain this film will be a milestone in my life."
The untitled project, which has been in the pipeline for a few years, is said to be Mari Selvaraj’s most ambitious film yet. While further details about the cast, plot, and production timeline are still under wraps, the director’s words suggest a blend of emotional storytelling and grand cinematic scale—something both he and Dhanush are known for.
Meanwhile, Dhanush continues to ride high on the success of Kuberaa, which received widespread appreciation for his performance. The actor has a packed slate ahead, including Idly Kadai, Tere Ishk Mein, and the much-awaited D54.
As for Bison Kaalamaadan, the sports drama starring Dhruv Vikram and Anupama Parameswaran, is slated to release in theatres on October 17. Jointly produced by Applause Entertainment and Neelam Studios, the film also features Lal, Pasupathy, Rajisha Vijayan, Kalaiyarasan, and others in pivotal roles.
With both Bison and the upcoming Dhanush collaboration, 2025 is expected to be a landmark year for Mari Selvaraj.
