Mammootty is back with one of his most popular characters- Sethurama Iyer from the popular CBI series. It has been 17 years since the release of the fourth installment of the CBI series- Nerariyan CBI (2005). On Monday, Mammootty shared that the film will be released worldwide in theatres on May 1, Sunday.
The film will be released on the weekend of Eid and will make for the perfect gift for the auspicious festival. The Censor Board passed the film with a U/A certificate. The upcoming film will be 2 hours and 42 minutes long. Anoop Menon, Soubin Shahir, Ramesh Pisharody, Kaniha, Asha Sharath, Renji Panicker, Sai Kumar, Malavika Menon, Prashanth Alexander, and Dileesh Pothan will also essay pivotal roles in the new film.

Directed by K Madhu, CBI 5 is written by SN Swamy. Jakes Bejoy has composed the music for the film, which is produced under the banner of Swargachitra Films. The CBI series began in 1988 with the film Oru CBI Diary Kurippu, which was followed by Jagratha (1989), Sethurama Iyer CBI (2004), and Nerariyan CBI (2005) . Oru CBI Diarykurippu, Nerariyan CBI can be streamed on Disney+ Hotstar. Jagratha and Sethurama Iyer CBI can be watched onn EROS Now.
