SSMB29, the much-anticipated fantasy-action adventure directed by S.S. Rajamouli, is all set to roll in Serengeti, Tanzania this July. According to recent reports, the film’s team — including superstar Mahesh Babu, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, and Prithviraj Sukumaran — will kick off an extensive international shooting schedule starting the third week of July.

The makers, known for their grandeur and globe-trotting vision, are beginning the film’s first major action leg in the breathtaking landscapes of Africa. The Serengeti National Park, famous for its wild beauty and cinematic vistas, is expected to be the backdrop for several high-octane action sequences in the film. After wrapping up their shoot in Tanzania, the cast and crew will reportedly head to South Africa, continuing their high-budget international schedule through the region.

Interestingly, earlier reports from Filmfare had suggested that the film’s action blocks were initially planned in Kenya. However, the idea was dropped due to ongoing political instability in the region, prompting the team to reroute their shoot to more stable locales within East Africa.

Touted as a fantasy-action adventure inspired by Indian mythology, SSMB29 marks Mahesh Babu’s most ambitious project to date and also his first project with filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli. Directed by the blockbuster filmmaker S.S. Rajamouli, the film has been scripted by his father, the legendary Vijayendra Prasad, who previously penned hits like Baahubali and RRR.

The addition of global icon Priyanka Chopra Jonas to the star cast has already sent fans into a frenzy, especially considering she is making her comeback to Indian Cinema with this project and with Prithviraj Sukumaran also joining the ensemble, expectations are sky-high. This trio — paired with Rajamouli’s visionary direction — promises to deliver a cinematic spectacle with a global footprint.

From mythological inspiration to action in the African wild, SSMB29 is shaping up to be a genre-defying epic that pushes the limits of Indian cinema on an international scale.
