Kantara: Chapter 1: Hombale Films drops MAJOR update about release date; fantasy drama to release during the occasion of Dussehra 2025

The film, directed and written by Rishab Shetty, will release on October 2 in multiple languages including Hindi and Bengali.

After creating an uproar at the box office with its prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1 is expected to be a spinoff of this mystical drama that promises to take audiences to the root of the folklore showcased in the 2022 drama. While the announcement of this second instalment has garnered much excitement fans, Hombale Films has added to it by unveiling the release date on November 17. Kantara: Chapter 1 is set to release on October 2, 2025.

Speaking of the release date, it is not only a National Holiday due to Gandhi Jayanti but it also coincides with the occasion of Dussehra, which is the tenth day after Navratri.

Makers had unveiled an announcement teaser

Last year, along with the announcement of the film, a short clip of a few seconds was unveiled by Hombale films where they shared a glimpse of Rishab Shetty in the mystical forest and later it transports us to another bulkier avatar of the actor where he is covered in blood and looks menacing with fire in his eyes. He is seen donning a new look with long curly hair, bare-chested with rudraksh (sacred beads) accessories on his neck and wrists, adding further to the mystic elements of the film.

Kantara to have extensive sets

While the previous instalment was known for its grand and authentic cinematic experiences, we hear that the team has spared no effort to create a bigger visual masterpiece this time. Not too long ago, it was reported that the production team has recreated the historic Kadamba Empire at Kundapur, immersing viewers in an era of valor, culture, and mystique. This intricate set, complete with detailed architecture and lifelike surroundings, is expected to transport audiences to a bygone time.

Rishab Shetty has undergone extensive prep

It is also being said that Rishab Shetty, the actor-director at the helm of this ambitious project, has left no stone unturned in preparing for his role. To authentically portray his character, Rishab underwent rigorous training in Kalaripayattu, one of the oldest martial art forms originating from Kerala. It was Kantara that introduced the richness of Konkan folklore to the world.

It is being said that while the release date has been locked as October 2, we hear that the movie will be releasing not only in South languages but also in Hindi and Bengali.
