Last week, viewers were dazzled by Emraan Hashmi’s extended and viral special appearance in The Ba***ds Of Bollywood. This week, he’ll be seen as an antagonist in his Telugu debut, They Call Him OG, featuring Power Star Pawan Kalyan in the lead role. Just a few hours ago, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) passed the film and Bollywood Hungama, in this article, will focus on its cut list.
They Call Him OG has received an 'A' certificate and yet, the Examining Committee (EC) has asked for cuts in as many as 7 scenes. The close-up visuals of amputations of hands and beheadings in 2 scenes, with a total run time of 9 seconds, were removed. A 1-second shot of hammering was also censored.
Then, in two scenes set in a lodge, the close-up visuals of violence and amputation of a hand were axed. The duration of the deleted scenes is 62 seconds or 1 minute and 2 seconds. A shot of a child in a pool of blood was modified. A similar modification was done in the scene of a police official opening the zip of his pants.
A 3-second visual of neck stitching was deleted. Lastly, a 40-second shot, featuring close-up visuals of violence, was removed. In all, CBFC censored 1 minute and 55 seconds of violent shots.
Once these changes were made, They Call Him OG was passed with an 'A' certificate. The length of the film, as mentioned on the censor certificate, is 154.15 minutes. In other words, They Call Him OG is 2 hours, 34 minutes and 15 seconds long.
They Call Him OG is Pawan Kalyan’s first ‘A’ rated film in 14 long years. The last film to receive an adults-only rating from the CBFC was Panjaa (2011).
The promotional event of They Call Him OG was held yesterday, September 22, in Hyderabad. Although the trailer was not unveiled at the event due to an unforeseen circumstance, the occasion still made headlines, especially for Pawan Kalyan’s warm words for Emraan Hashmi. Referring to the collaboration as “the ultimate chance to work with Emraan,” Pawan also gave a nod to the actor’s popular Bollywood track ‘Jhalak Dikhla Ja’, and praised his performance in the film. In return, Emraan Hashmi shared a video with Pawan Kalyan on social media, expressing his excitement about working together on such a high-profile project.
