The much-anticipated Drishyam 3 has officially gone on floors, with filming beginning at SN Law College in Poothotta, Kochi, on Monday. The inaugural function was marked by a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony and pooja, attended by actor Mohanlal, director Jeethu Joseph, and producer Antony Perumbavoor.

Mohanlal, who recently received the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award, returns to play the iconic character Georgekutty in the third installment of the Drishyam series. Taking to social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the actor shared photos from the ceremony, writing, “Bringing Georgekutty’s world alive once again… Today marks the beginning of Drishyam 3 with the Pooja. #Drishyam3 #JeethuJoseph #AashirvadCinemas #Drishyam.”

Speaking to the press, Mohanlal expressed his gratitude for receiving Indian cinema’s highest honour. When asked about the new chapter of Drishyam, he hinted at the suspense that fans can expect. “No doubt Georgekutty will create some trouble. But I’ve been told not to reveal much. The suspense is what makes Drishyam 3 exciting,” he said.

The actor also mentioned that he would be travelling to New Delhi to receive the Dadasaheb Phalke Award after attending the film’s launch event. Director Jeethu Joseph, who helmed the previous two films, asked audiences to approach the sequel with curiosity rather than high expectations. “This isn’t a thriller in the traditional sense. It’s more of a family drama, focusing on how Georgekutty’s family has evolved over the past four years,” he explained.

Producer Antony Perumbavoor described the day as unforgettable, highlighting the symbolic timing of the shoot beginning shortly after Mohanlal’s award announcement.

“It feels special to start this journey right after such a proud moment in Mohanlal sir’s career,” he said. Drishyam (2013) and Drishyam 2 (2021) were major successes across India and beyond. Both films were remade in several languages, including Hindi, Sinhala, Mandarin, and Korean—cementing the franchise's global appeal.
