Ahead of its theatrical premiere, Dhanush is set to launch the trailer of his fourth directorial venture Idli Kadai with a grand event. The trailer will be unveiled on September 20 at Prozone Mall in Coimbatore. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on October 1.
Dhanush himself stars in the film as Murugan, supported by an impressive cast that includes Nithya Menen as Kayalvizhi, Sathyaraj as Vishnu Varadhan, Arun Vijay as Ashwin, Samuthirakani as Marisamy, Rajkiran as Sivanesan, Shalini Pandey as Meera, and Parthiban as R Arivu.
Speaking at the audio launch in Chennai, Dhanush described Idli Kadai as “a deeply personal project inspired by his childhood.” He shared, “selling flowers as a boy just to afford plates of steaming idlis,” noting that the story is drawn from “real people and incidents that left a lasting impact on him.”
The creative crew behind the film includes GV Prakash for music, Kiran Koushik handling cinematography, GK Prasanna in charge of editing, and Jackson overseeing production design.
The film is jointly produced by Akash Bhaskaran of Dawn Pictures and Dhanush’s own Wunderbar Pictures. Idli Kadai also marks the distribution debut of Inban Udhayanidhi, son of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin. Globally, Hamsini Entertainment will distribute the film, while 180 Entertainment will handle distribution in France.
With a title that evokes the warmth of a local eatery and a narrative seeded in personal history, Idli Kadai is shaping up to deliver both nostalgia and emotional depth. The upcoming trailer launch promises to give audiences their first real taste of what Dhanush has crafted and fans are eagerly waiting.
