As Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari gears up for a grand re-release on May 9, marking 35 years since it first hit theatres, megastar Chiranjeevi took a nostalgic trip down memory lane, recalling his time working with the late actress Sridevi. Along with that, the film’s timeless appeal has led to discussions around a possible remake or sequel—something Chiranjeevi had previously been hesitant about.
However, in a surprising update, the actor now appears to be warming up to the idea—especially if the next generation of stars is involved. “Initially, I didn’t want a sequel to be made. But now, I would love to see Nag Ashwin direct the sequel with RRR star Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. It would have a strong link to the first part and could be a dream project for the actors involved,” Chiranjeevi said. Interestingly, Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor are already teaming up for the upcoming film Peddi, making the idea of this on-screen pairing all the more exciting for fans.
Directed by the legendary K. Raghavendra Rao and co-written by Jandhyala and Yandamuri Veerendranath, Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari blended fantasy and drama in a unique cinematic style that left a lasting impression on audiences. Speaking about the film’s legacy, Chiranjeevi fondly remembered his co-star and expressed how deeply he misses her presence during this special moment. “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the major attraction of JVAS, and her character felt like a dream. This was the first time I shared screen space with Sridevi, and our chemistry was superb,” he said in a recent interaction.
As the iconic film returns to the big screen this week, it brings with it not just a wave of nostalgia but also fresh hope for a new chapter in its legacy—perhaps with Ram and Janhvi stepping into their legendary parents’ footsteps.
