Squid Game Season 3 Teaser out: Netflix prepares for the final round

Netflix has released the first teaser for the highly anticipated third season of Squid Game, offering a glimpse at what lies ahead for Player 456 and the remaining contenders in the dystopian competition. Set to premiere on June 27, Season 3 marks the conclusion of a series that has become a cultural touchstone since its debut.

Despite its dark premise, Squid Game has maintained a strong grip on audiences worldwide. Following its return in December 2024, Season 2 shattered Netflix records, including the most views for a series in its premiere week. Within just three days, it climbed the Most Popular Non-English TV list, landing at #2 with 192.6 million views, behind only Season 1’s 265.2 million. Season 2 is now ranked as the third most-watched season of any show on the platform, reinforcing the franchise’s wide-reaching impact.

Season 3 picks up from the events of the Season 2 finale, as Gi-hun (Player 456) re-enters the deadly competition—this time not to survive, but to dismantle the system from within. Grappling with grief over the loss of ally Jung-bae (Player 390), Gi-hun’s journey grows even more perilous as he discovers that the mysterious Front Man had been hiding in plain sight, disguised as Player 001 during the rebellion.

The newly unveiled teaser begins with the ominous image of guards carrying a familiar black coffin box, a symbol of fallen players. Inside lies Gi-hun, who slowly awakens in a new game environment. A large gumball machine then dispenses red and blue balls—suggesting a pivotal choice or outcome in the next round of challenges. Returning characters include the Front Man, detective Hwang Jun-ho, and several former players: Myung-gi, Dae-ho, Hyun-ju, Yong-sik, Geum-ja, Jun-hee, Min-su, Nam-gyu, and pink guard No-eul. The trailer ends with the unsettling sound of a baby crying, hinting at an unexpected narrative twist.

The teaser art reinforces the season’s somber tone, showing Gi-hun surrounded by a sea of the black-pink boxes as he gazes upward—seemingly torn between resolve and reflection. With the games entering their final stage, Squid Game Season 3 promises high stakes, moral questions, and a dramatic conclusion to Gi-hun’s story.
