The Player 2: Oh Yeon Seo and Jang Gyuri in talks to join Song Seung Heon in season 2; Krystal to not return

South Korean actors Oh Yeon Seo and Jang Gyuri are reportedly in talks to join Song Seung Heon in season 2 of The Player. On January 27, Oh Yeon Seo’s agency Story J Company stated, “Actress Oh Yeon Seo has received an offer for ‘The Player 2’ and is currently reviewing it. She has received an offer for the role of Jung Soo Min. As nothing has been confirmed yet, it’s difficult to share more about the role she’s been offered.”

Meanwhile the same day, Jang Gyuri’s agency JUST Entertainment commented, “It’s true that actress Jang Gyuri has received an offer for ‘The Player 2.’ She’s currently positively reviewing [the offer].” As per Korean tabloid Soompi, Jang Gyuri is reportedly in talks to play the role of Jae Yi, a skilled driver who hides a soft heart underneath her stern exterior.

Additionally, it has been reported that while Song Seung Heon has been confirmed to reprise his role, Krystal won’t be returning. “Krystal will not be appearing in ‘The Player 2,'” her agency stated. OCN’s 2018 drama followed a con artist, a hacker, a fighter, and a driver who worked together to take down the wealthy and corrupt.

The first season featured Song Seung Heon, Lee Si Eon, Krystal, Tae Won Suk, among others. The second season commences filming in the first half of the year.
