We Were Liars: Mystery thriller series to Premiere on Prime Video on June 18

Prime Video is all set to unveil We Were Liars, the highly anticipated mystery thriller based on E Lockhart’s acclaimed novel, on June 18, 2025. The streaming platform released first-look images from the series on Wednesday, offering viewers a glimpse into the eerie beauty and simmering secrets of this gripping drama. All eight episodes will be available to stream on launch day, accessible in over 240 countries and territories worldwide.

Set against the backdrop of a wealthy family's private island off the coast of New England, We Were Liars follows the enigmatic story of Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her close-knit group of friends, affectionately nicknamed ‘the Liars’. What begins as a sun-soaked summer among the privileged soon takes a darker turn after Cadence suffers a mysterious accident - one that leaves her grappling with memory loss and surrounded by half-truths. As Cadence begins to piece together the events that changed everything, she is forced to confront painful revelations and question everything she once believed.

The series stars Emily Alyn Lind as Cadence, with Shubham Maheshwari as Gat Patil, Esther McGregor as Mirren Sinclair Sheffield, and Joseph Zada as Johnny Sinclair Dennis. The supporting cast features Caitlin FitzGerald as Penny Sinclair, Mamie Gummer as Carrie Sinclair, Candice King as Bess Sinclair, Rahul Kohli as Ed Patil, and David Morse as the family patriarch, Harris Sinclair.

Bringing this emotionally layered narrative to life are co-showrunners and executive producers Julie Plec (The Vampire Diaries, Legacies) and Carina Adly MacKenzie (Roswell, New Mexico, The Originals). Author E Lockhart also joins the team as an executive producer, ensuring the adaptation remains faithful to her original vision. Emily Cummins of My So-Called Company and Universal Television, in association with Amazon MGM Studios, round out the production team.
