Kate Winslet fondly remembers Titanic producer Jon Landau; says, “He was the kindest and best of men”

Best known for the recently released Avatar: The Way of Water and the iconic film Titanic, Hollywood producer Jon Landau passed away on July 5, leaving a void in the lives of many. Among them was also good friend Kate Winslet, who was the leading lady of the 1997 romantic drama along with Leonardo DiCaprio as her leading man. Recently in an interview with Deadline, the Holiday actress fondly recalled some precious memories with the producer and also appreciated him.

In her own words, Kate Winslet lauded Jon Landau’s loving nature and shared in the report, “Jon Landau was the kindest and best of men.” She further went on to describe him saying, “He was a man who was rich with compassion and exceptional at supporting and nurturing teams of phenomenal creative people. His strength in life was knowing the importance of family, at home and at work,” she continued and added, “He was always full of smiles and gratitude. I can’t believe I am writing this, can’t believe he is gone.”

Her Titanic co-star and renowned Hollywood superstar Leonardo DiCaprio also remembered him with the nicest of words and shared, “Jon was an incredibly kind, wise, and empathetic soul, who wanted to create nothing but a positive impact on anyone or anything approached. His legacy and leadership will live on forever.”

James Cameron, who directed Titanic and Avatar, and shared a great friendship Lon, expressed his grief in a statement, saying, “A part of myself has been torn away. His zany humour, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades,” he said, adding, “His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique.”

Many other celebrities, actors, filmmakers, and other members of the film fraternity took to social media to share their heartfelt messages and pay their last respects to the late Jon Landau. The producer died at the age of 63 and as per reports, he was suffering from cancer.
