Hollywood heavyweights Jamie Foxx and Tommy Lee Jones are set to grace screens together in a heartwarming drama, as revealed in the trailer for Prime Video's upcoming release, The Burial.

The film's official description provides a glimpse into the storyline, stating, “When a handshake deal goes sour, funeral homeowner Jeremiah O’Keefe (Jones) enlists charismatic, smooth-talking attorney Willie E. Gary (Foxx) to save his family business. Tempers flare and laughter ensues as the unlikely pair bond while exposing corporate corruption and racial injustice in this inspirational, triumphant story.”

Based on Jonathan Harr's 1999 New Yorker article of the same title, The Burial delves into the narrative of personal injury lawyer Willie E. Gary, played by Foxx, and his determination to aid funeral homeowner Jeremiah Joseph O'Keefe, portrayed by Jones, in a contractual dispute against the formidable Loewen funeral company. With Gary's legal expertise, O'Keefe embarks on a legal battle against Raymond Loewen's character, portrayed by Bill Camp, unraveling the complexities and deceptions prevalent in the funeral industry while offering glimpses into Gary's ambitious and unconventional background.

Directed by Maggie Betts, The Burial boasts a compelling storyline penned by Doug Wright and brought to life through the collaborative screenplay work of Doug Wright and Maggie Betts. The film draws inspiration from Jonathan Harr's enlightening article featured in The New Yorker. The impressive ensemble cast includes Tommy Lee Jones, Jamie Foxx, Jurnee Smollett, Mamoudou Athie, Pamela Reed, Bill Camp, and Alan Ruck, promising a captivating cinematic experience. Produced by a dedicated team consisting of Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, Jamie Foxx, Datari Turner, Jenette Kahn, Adam Richman, and Bobby Shriver, The Burial offers a runtime of 126 minutes and carries an R rating. It is poised to make its debut in select theatres on October 6, offering audiences a chance to savour the on-screen chemistry between Foxx and Jones. Subsequently, the film will be available for streaming worldwide on Prime Video starting October 13.
