One of the most awaited films of 2025, F1 The Movie, is all set to storm into cinemas on Friday, June 27. Looking at the craze to see the film, the studio decided to organize paid previews in certain IMAX properties of the country. As soon as the advance booking opened, the tickets started getting sold like hotcakes. At the same time, many were astonished and saddened as the prices for the ticket were sky-high.
Since the paid previews are held in IMAX, one is expected to shell out a higher amount. But in the case of F1 The Movie, the ticket rates are higher than what one would pay to watch the film at the weekend, in some IMAX cinemas.
The Delhi-NCR fans of F1 The Movie particularly were left shocked as the bookings, at first, opened only in PVR Ambience Gurugram and PVR Select City Walk Delhi. The rates in these cinemas don't go below Rs. 1000! For the show at PVR Ambience Gurugram, the ticket rates are Rs. 1200, Rs. 1300 and Rs. 1400. In PVR Select City Walk Delhi IMAX, one will have to pay Rs. 1200 for normal and lounger seats, Rs. 1300 for ‘Xtra Legroom’ section and a steep Rs. 2000 for recliners. Thankfully, a show at PVR Superplex Logix Noida was added where the normal tickets were priced at Rs. 600 while recliners were priced at Rs. 1200. Yet, the average ticket price in the capital city still comes to Rs. 1350.
Even in certain other IMAX screens of the country, the prices for paid previews are higher than the highest weekend rates like Inox Malad Mumbai (Rs. 610, Rs. 700, Rs. 770 against the highest weekend rate of Rs. 620), Inox Kolkata (Rs. 680 against the highest weekend rate of Rs. 580), Inox Kochi (Rs. 700, Rs. 750, Rs. 800 against the highest weekend rate of Rs. 600). Thankfully, cinemas like PVR Lower Parel, Miraj IMAX Wadala, Inox Chennai, PVR Nexus Bengaluru and Cinepolis Bengaluru have opted for the same pricing for paid previews as for the weekend.
As of Sunday, June 22, F1 The Movie paid previews will be held in 13 IMAX properties in India. The average ticket price across all these cinemas is approximately Rs. 798.44. While the ticket prices seem high, one can’t deny that the excitement level is tremendous and all these shows are expected to be 100% full by Wednesday. The show at IMAX Chennai is already full, 4 days before. It now remains to be seen if more shows of the film can be added and what their price points are.
