South Korean pop titans BTS has been confirmed to be a part of special edition Korean national stamps and get featured on one of them in the coming year 2023.
According to Allkpop tabloid, on December 14, the Korea Post (the national postal service of South Korea) revealed its list of 23 special edition stamps which will be released next year to commemorate 2023.
In many countries, including in South Korea, national stamps represent and honor key cultural figures, events, monuments. As the report suggests, the selection of figures, events, or locations for each year's special edition stamps is headed by a committee representing various fields in the arts.
While the final design of the new BTS stamp is yet to be confirmed, the Korea Post announced, "BTS are globally considered 21st century pop icons, who touched the lives of those around the world with their music and lyrics."
Other iconic figures and designs like Pororo, Korea’s beloved animated penguin, and the Korean alphabet hangul, will also be featured. “Postage stamps are a means to represent our country’s precious culture, beyond their meanings as proof of payment,” said Son Seung Hyun, president of Korea Post.
“We will continue to make active efforts to publicize the culture that represents Korea through such commemorative stamps.”
Meanwhile, BTS members have been busy with their individual projects. Jin enlisted in the military on December 13. Two members J-Hope and RM have dropped their solo albums Jack In The Box and Indigo, respectively. Other members are working on their solo albums whilst dropping several collaborations this year.
