Apple Original Films, in collaboration with the visionary filmmakers behind Top Gun: Maverick, is set to release one of the most anticipated action-packed dramas of the year – F1 The Movie. Slated for a grand theatrical release on June 27, 2025, in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, the film stars Academy Award winner Brad Pitt in the lead role and is directed by Joseph Kosinski.

The high-octane racing film is brought to life by powerhouse producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Joseph Kosinski, seven-time Formula 1world champion Lewis Hamilton, Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner, and Chad Oman.

With F1 champion Lewis Hamilton actively contributing as a producer, and ace screenwriter Ehren Kruger penning the screenplay, the filmmakers had only one name in mind to play the lead: Brad Pitt as Sonny Hayes. And according to Kosinski, Pitt didn’t just step into the role—he elevated it.

“Brad is an icon, and I wanted Sonny to be iconic as well,” says Kosinski. “Brad takes a role that was made for him and makes it so much more: he had a really strong sense of what he wanted from Sonny Hayes. He’s also a great producer, involved in every aspect of the script and putting the movie together. And on top of everything else, he’s a naturally talented driver who really loves the sport. If Brad didn’t have all of those qualities, I don’t know we would have ever been able to make this.”

F1 The Movie also features a stellar supporting cast including Damson Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, and Javier Bardem. Uniquely, the film was shot during actual Formula 1Grand Prix weekends, bringing authentic racing realism as the cast and crew filmed alongside the sport’s biggest legends and events.

A massive cinematic experience awaits audiences worldwide as Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures present F1 The Movie, a Monolith Pictures / Jerry Bruckheimer / Plan B Entertainment / Dawn Apollo Films production. The film will be distributed globally by Warner Bros. Pictures, premiering in theatres and IMAX on June 27, 2025.
