Zayed Khan recalls son Zidaan facing “life-and-death” situation in London due to respiratory problems: “He came to me and said, ‘Papa help me, I can’t breathe’”

Actor Zayed Khan recently shared a harrowing experience concerning his son Zidaan, who faced a serious respiratory issue throughout his childhood and teenage years. This personal account highlights the intense challenges the family faced, particularly during a critical incident in London.

A Life-Threatening Incident

During a candid conversation with his Main Hoon Na co-star Amrita Rao on her YouTube channel, Couple of Things – Amrita Rao I RJ Anmol, Zayed revealed the traumatic moment when Zidaan had a severe respiratory attack at the age of three. He recounted, “My elder son Zidaan had a very big respiratory problem at the age of 3. We were in London when he had a particularly bad attack. He came to me and said, ‘Papa help me, I can’t breathe.’” The urgency of the situation escalated quickly, prompting Zayed’s wife to contact emergency services.

The Role of Emergency Services

Zayed praised the swift response of the healthcare system in London, stating, “My wife is very strong when it comes to dealing with medical emergencies, and she immediately called an ambulance, which arrived in 15 minutes. It was a life-and-death situation.” Upon arrival at the hospital, a nurse's grim expression indicated the severity of Zidaan's condition. Zayed recalled, “The nurse nodded at us, indicating that he wasn’t sure if Zidaan would survive. He took out an adrenaline injection and asked for my permission to inject it into Zidaan.”

The actor spoke about the efficiency of the medical team, noting that the hospital summoned multiple doctors to prepare for any necessary intervention. “I have to credit the healthcare system in London—they immediately called four doctors from all over the city to the hospital. They were prepared to do surgery, where they would have had to cut his throat if the steroids didn’t work,” he explained.

The Emotional Toll

Zayed Khan's experience during this critical time was deeply distressing for him and his family. He reflected on the emotional agony they endured, saying, “We were in so much agony because there is nothing worse than the thought of losing a child.” Fortunately, after several hours of treatment, Zidaan's condition improved, and surgery was ultimately avoided. “Thankfully, after a couple of hours, the steroids started working, and they didn’t need to proceed with the surgery,” he concluded.
