The last major film of 2025, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, has failed to work at the box office. The film opened at Rs. 7.75 crores on Christmas Day and then dropped to Rs. 4.50 crores on Friday, December 26. The romcom was flat on December 27 as it earned Rs. 4.50 crores. We asked the trade experts about the lifetime earnings of the film and also about Kartik Aaryan’s upcoming projects.
When asked about the lifetime, trade veteran Taran Adarsh said, “It’ll do around Rs. 40 crores. If the word of mouth was positive, the holiday period would have proved to be an advantage. In fact, it was the word of mouth which has taken Dhurandhar to places. Its initial days were not too strong but the way people took to the film was unprecedented. Everywhere I go, people are only talking about Dhurandhar.”
Meanwhile, trade analyst Atul Mohan, producer and eminent film business analyst Girish Johar and distributor and exhibitor Raj Bansal predicted that the romcom would collect around Rs. 40-50 crores. Atul Mohan added, “Kartik needs to do 3-4 correct projects to build his track record.”
Kartik Aaryan has two exciting releases in 2026 – the quirky comedy, Naagzilla, and Anurag Basu’s musical untitled next, co-starring Sreeleela. Will the box office outcome of Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri affect these two films?
Taran Adarsh replied, “No. In fact, I feel that these two films will take him to a wider audience, while Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri was very metro-centric. But those films will take him to centres where mass heroes are born and worshipped.”
Girish Johar agreed, “Ups and downs keep happening in this business. Every film is different and can perform as per its merit. If the trailer of his upcoming films clicks and storytelling is compelling, then the audience will turn up in hordes. No one would even remember the last outing.”
However, Raj Bansal said, “Yes, it can get affected. Your last Friday affects the opening of your next film. Dhurandhar’s opening was also slow. The film picked up only after five days. If Ranveer Singh was in form, imagine how it would have opened at the box office.”
On the other hand, Atul Mohan said, “Anurag Basu can work, but he will have to present it in a certain way. Today you can’t treat the film like 90s and 2000s films. One might argue that Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat worked. But that was an exception despite being an out-and-out 90s film.”
But he placed his bets on Naagzilla, “There has not been a film on a naag for a long time. The biggest hit of Sridevi’s career is Nagina (1986). Ekta Kapoor’s show, Naagin, is also loved by the public. Hence, it can make for a different experience.”
