Tabu speaks on reuniting with Akshay Kumar for Bhooth Bangla after 25 years: “He still wakes up at 4 am” 25 : Bollywood News

Tabu is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan after years, marking a nostalgic return to a trio that last worked together in the cult comedy Hera Pheri (2000). In a recent conversation with ETimes, the actress shared her experience of stepping onto the sets of Bhooth Bangla, Priyadarshan’s upcoming horror comedy.

Reflecting on her first day on set, Tabu admitted she wasn’t sure what to expect. “I didn’t know what to expect. I hadn’t worked with Akshay after Hera Pheri, and we hadn’t even met socially very often over the years. I had stayed in touch with Priyan, so I knew he would be exactly the same person,” she said.

Tabu revealed that Priyadarshan remains unchanged as a director—still “impatient and vocal about what he feels.”

“Akshay’s humour and energy are the same”

While the actress was familiar with Priyadarshan’s style, she was pleasantly surprised to find that Akshay Kumar, too, as the person she remembered from their earlier collaborations. Speaking about him, she said, “His humour and energy are the same. He still wakes up at 4 am, finishes early, and heads home, which is a very good thing for the rest of us. He always says, ‘Jaldi sona chahiye,’ and reminds everyone he doesn’t go to parties. That part of him hasn’t changed at all.”

Tabu added that while everyone has grown and evolved over the years, “the essence of who he is—that’s still the same.”

Tabu, who was last seen in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (2024) alongside Ajay Devgn, did not have a release in 2025. However, 2026 promises an exciting slate for the actress. Apart from Bhooth Bangla, she will also be seen in Puri Jagannadh’s next Tamil-Telugu bilingual, co-starring Vijay Sethupathi.
